• Biography*: 14 November 2014; John Holland, son of Benjamin Holland, was born in Halifax now Pittsylvania County, Virginia. He served as an Indian fighter during the Revolutionary War. He was a member of the company with Vinet Fine who chased Indians from the Tuskasaigee settlements into western North Carolina after they stole horses and cattle in the winter of 1783 and in which John and his brothers were injured.
  
  John settled at Big Creek, now Del Rio, Tennessee and the creek running from Chestnut Mountain to the French Broad River bears the name of John's Creek.
  
  In the 1830 census John's family is listed as having 8 slaves. He died in Cocke County, Tennessee and was buried at the Holland family cemetery between Max Patch and Del Rio.¹

• Biography*: 7 September 2020; In Oct 1783, Thomas Rowland was granted 100 acres on Ball's Branch, Cathey's Creek, of Second Broad River, adjacent to John Malone's entry. (Rutherford DB A-D, p. 225). I currently have no record of John Malone's grant. He appears to be related to Robert Malone.
  
  Robert Malone appears in Rutherford County, NC records as early as 1779, when he was granted 100 acres on Ball's Branch of Cathey's Creek, adjacent to William Gilbert (Rutherford DB A-D, p.204, 13 Aug 1779).
  Robert Malone appears on the 1782 Tax Digest of Rutherford County, with 100 acres, one horse, and six cattle.
  
  John Malone's ancestry is speculative, and based on autosomal DNA evidence¹
