When near Thurston, the mule ran away with the buggy, striking a tree with such force as to throw the driver out, breaking his neck and crushing his shoulders. This occurred about 8 p.m. and he was not found until the next day, when someone passing discovered the mule, shattered buggy and the dead body of Mr. Choran. He was a good citizen and mason, and a christian gentleman, and his terrible and sudden death is deeply regreted by all in the neighborhood.

I could not find them either. First, Fannie and Jess Carter are NOT a direct line of this family. Fannie was a Spicer who married Joseph A.Q. Carter, son of John Jackson Carter..who MAY be a brother to Seaborn. This is what is driving me:
Recently, there has been a new book out on Covington County History:
COVINGTON COUNTY PEOPLE: GENEALOGICAL NOTES OF JUDGE RICHARD HENRY JONES AND RUBY RICHARDS BRYAN COMPLIED, AND EDITED AND ADDITIONAL NOTES BY SCOTT R. SMITH, Ed.D FROM MATERIAL PROVIDED BY EVELYNE BRYAN THOMAS. FINAL EDIT AND PUBLICATION BY BOB BYRAN. COPYRIGHT 2009 On page 95 of this book, Judge Jones notes:
Seborn Green Carter, son of Samuel G. Carter(who was)grandson of...Carter(who)came from Scotland and settled in Charleston, South Carolina and lived there until he died, Samuel G. Carter(Carter the grandson)then being about 12 years of age.
pg. 96..Samuel G. Carter, born in 1812, lived in South Carolina and came to Columbia, Georgia, a little east of Headland, Al and then to HENRY county near Cottonwood and then to Rose Hill and died there about 1885.
Father(Seborn Green Carter) was born in 1842 in Charleston, South Carolina and left there when 14(1856) came to the same place(as father) and (was in) Georgia two years and then Henry County before the Civil War. After the war, he married Amanda Cochron, daughter of---Cohron and Eliza Baker.
Mother was a Cochron. (She) married first Richard(Dick) killed in CSA; no children. 2nd(she married) S.G. Carter. (Children)
1. W.L. Carter married Tommie, daughter of Dick Hobbs 2. Josephine Hughes married Jack J. Hughes 3. J.N. B. Carter married Martha Henley, daughter of Bryan(Henley). - Research Note: 15 June 2010; Source: ALESCAMB@rootsweb.com

I just want to tell you that I have been working on these Carters; and the information you posted is all the right people..and the book by Judge Jones is also in line with your info. Seaborn Green Carter married Amanda Cohron in Henry Co., after the war, they then moved to Rose Hill. They had: W.L. Carter, James Napoleon Carter, Josephine Vista/Vesta Carter, and Nicholas G. Carter. The only child of theirs that I haven't been able to locate is W.L. Carter who was suppose to have married Tommie Hobbs. I strongly suspect that "Alonzo" Carter is "Jess" that married Fanny Spicer..but I will have to order his death certificate to really know.
Seaborn remarried after Amanda's death: CARTER, S.G. JOHNSON, Annie 14 DEC 1902 360 and according to family sources; moved to Atmore, Al and had other children..he was suppose to have died and been buried across the Florida line.
Still seeking any and all info on this family.

- Biography*: In 1864, at the age of 21, L. B. enlisted in the Confederate Army. During the Civil War, he served as a corporal with the Henry County Reserve, Co. G, Milton's Battalion. He was listed as a "farmer, with dark complexion, auburn hair." L. B. and family lived in Coffee, Covington, and Crenshaw Counties before moving to Butler County in 1881. L. B. was a Baptist preacher. For 23 years he served as pastor of small churches in Butler County. In an article written by J. W. Joyner, whose father was a "friend and co-worker in the ministry" with L. B., he wrote: "The Rev. Mr. Cohron, like Zacchaeus, was little of stature, but big in heart. Only the recording Angel knew fully his work as a faithful Minister.... He wore a watch chain made out of dimes.... Stretching across his breast it made a small boy believe he was a rich preacher." In 1904, the family moved to Monroe County and lived near Excel. L. B. also served several small churches in Monroe County and around Flomaton, AL. In 1915, Ann, L. B.'s wife of 45 years died. About a year later he married E. A. Banks, he was 73 and she 62. He moved to Grand Bay, AL, where he lived until his death in 1930.
