Biography*: In March 1775, Amaziah Griffin of Beaufort Co, NC sold 100 acres in Chowan Co, NC to Joseph Brinkley of Chowan. This was the former land of John Evans, who had willed it to Amaziah Griffin. Witnesses were Joseph Griffin and Samuel Harrell (Chowan Co Deed Bk. Q-185).

Biography*: In 1761 James bought 150 acres from his uncle Joseph (Chowan Deed Bk. M-223). In 1761, 1769, and 1771, James sold three tracts of land to Henry Walton. In 1771 he sold 25 acres to Aaron Hill, son of William Hill. The children of James and Hannah are known from entry in the minutes of the Pasquotank Monthly Meeting: "1790, 2, 20: Sarah, Elizabeth, Jacob, James & Lyddia, ch of James, granted certificate to Center Monthly Meeting." (Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy, by Hinshaw, Vol. I, p. 140)
