Walter Stewart 6th High Steward of Scotland1

  • Note*: He succeeded to the title of 6th High Steward of Scotland in 1309. He fought in the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314, where he commanded one of the divisions of the Scottish Army. He held the office of Regent of Scotland in 1316, during King Robert I's absence in Ireland. In 1322 he made a raid with Douglas that nearly captured King Edward II from Yorkshire.1

    Mildred Strickland Mahan went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 2, 1999, at 09:43 a.m. She was born on August 10, 1913, in Texas. She married Paul Loomis Strickland in 1931. She and Paul were married for 59 1/2 happy years before Paul deceased. They had five children. Her son, Charles Paul, at 19 months, and daughter, Peggy Joyce Smith, at 54 years, preceded her in death.

    Mildred married Eugene Mahan in 1992. They were married for three happy years before Gene passed away. She is survived by her son and his wife, Edwin and Charlene Strickland of Oklahoma City; her daughter, Clara Tarbutton, of Edmond, Oklahoma; her daughter and her husband, Pauline and Bill Fowler of Shay, Oklahoma; her stepson and his wife, Donald and Sherry Mahan of Raleigh, North Carolina; her stepdaughter and husband, Candice and Joseph Pride of Edmond; her stepson and wife, Rodney and Cathy Mahan of Straffordville, New Jersey. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

    She was a member of Britton Baptist Church. She had lived in Edmond, Oklahoma since 1953. Mildred was a precious lady who loved people. Her compassion for others was a great witness for the Lord. Viewing will be at Demuth Funeral Home from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held at the Britton Baptist Church, at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 4, 1999, with interment to follow at Kolb Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the General Church Fund of Britton Baptist Church.1

    As you may recall, there was aLucy Jackson who gota 200a GA headrightland grant in 1785 (in Wilkes GA)around the same time as Peter Jackson was listed with headright (multiples). She sold it shortly after with Peter also signing the deed. Georgia gave headrights to females and males both. I think she was the Lucy Read/Reed/Reid who married Matthew Hogg in
    
    In 1806 Peter Jackson deeds 50a in Greene GA to Lucy Read for $200. Lucy Reed married Matthew Hogg 8/11/1807 in Greene GA with Peter Jackson the witness or bondsman. Lucy was apparently the widow of Alexander Reed who died around 1803. Alexander Reed is mentioned in the 1803 will of Isabell Reid as her deceased son (will proved 1807). In 1816 in the Georgia Journal, Matthew Hogg posts a notice that "my wife Lucy has eloped from my bed and board" and says he won't pay for any of her contracts.
    
    According to a Hogg family tree, Lucy was born c1757 and died c1815. Matthew Hogg moved to AL and married again.
    
    Lucy might have been a sister.1
