  He was born on March 18, 1952, at Marvell, Arkansas, the son of George Buren Varner and Ella Olean Guin Varner. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Patricia Rogers and Melissa Kay Long.
  
  He retired from the United States Navy as a Chief Yeoman and was a logger. He was Assembly of God in his faith.
  
  He is survived by three children, Sarah Martin of Montgomery, Alabama, Melissa Varner of Glenwood and John Varner of Murfreesboro; six grandchildren, Brianna Martin, Cameron Martin, Aric Martin, Grayson Bardwell, Rylyn Kay Bardwell and Sadie Varner; his brother, Joey Varner of Alpine; and two sisters, Beverly Killian and Sherry Garner, both of Amity.
  
  Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 28, 2014 in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood with Bro. David Walker and Bro. Jerry Fagan officiating.
  
  Visitation will be Friday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
  
  Interment will be in the Coker Cemetery.
  
  Pallbearers will be Robbie Redleaf, Patrick Redleaf, Marty Varner, Josh Killian, Jonathan Long, Bryan Lyons and David Brian Garner.²

• Obituary*: Rose Neal Stewart was born on July 6, 1918, to Norris A. Stewart and Ida Ramsey Stewart in Texas. She grew up on a farm in south Texas. She attended the University of Texas (Austin), majoring in business administration. Rose met her future husband Alvin (Ace) Lyle while working as a waiter at Rose's Scottish Rite women's dormitory. They married in January 1942 and became the parents of Cynthia Eileen (January 7, 1942), Michael Reed (August 6, 1946), and Terry Alan (June 30, 1952). Ace served in the US Navy in World War II, while Rose took care of the family and taught elementary school. After Ace's discharge, the family lived in Los Alamos, New Mexico, where Rose taught and Ace worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Rose was an avid traveler and reader. Upon retirement, Ace and Rose lived in Rohnert Park, California, where she died on February 4, 2007, at age 88.¹

• Obituary*: Alvin (Ace) Reed Lyle was born on September 1, 1918, to Charles Edgar Lyle and Mineola Willingham Lyle in Agua Dulce, Texas. He grew up in Alice, Texas, working on the family farm. He attended the University of Texas (Austin), majoring in mechanical engineering. While working as a waiter at the Scottish Rite women's dormitory, he met Rose Neal Stewart, whom he married. He served in the US Navy in World War II as an aircraft maintenance officer aboard the USS Yorktown. He served in Korea as a pilot on the Princeton and Valley Forge aircraft carriers. Ace and Rose were the parents of Cynthia Eileen (January 7, 1942), Michael Reed (August 6, 1946), and Terry Alan (June 30, 1952). Ace earned a Masters degree in nuclear engineering from the University of New Mexico and worked on experimental nuclear reactors at Los Alamos National Laboratories. Ace was an avid golfer, bicycle rider, and traveler. Upon retirement, Ace and Rose lived in Rohnert Park, California, where he died of Parkinson's Disease at age 79 on October 19, 1997.¹
