• Obituary*: "General William Beall was a very early settler of Carroll County. He settled on Buck Creek, four miles north of Carrollton where he lived and died. He was a General of the Militia, a farmer and sometimes politician. He represented Carroll County in the State Senate in 1832, 1833, 1836 and 1841. He raised a large family of noble boys and good girls. In order to remember the names of all the boys and impress them on the mind, the youngest son, now Col. John B. Beall wrote and sang the names to the tune of that good old song about old Noah etc, thus: 'There was old father Noah and ten thousand more, prayed as they journeyed along. There was Otho, and August and Thomas and William and James and Noble and John'--seven in all. The girls were Mary, Martha and Millie."¹

This is based in part on a look at my Smith autosomal DNA matches on Ancestry.com, and in part on use of the name Charles both as a brother and as a son of William Wynn Smith. There was a Charles Smith, for example, who died in 1824 / 1825 in Spartanburg District, SC. This is a research idea only at this point.
  
  Also, I seem to have an autosomal DNA connection to various Smiths in Tennessee. Records in Tennessee could shed light on the ancestry of William Wynn Smith.¹

Mr. Corbell was born 1 Apr 1912 in DeLeon, to the late Henry Washington & Ada Wisdom Corbell. On 3 July 1948 he married Mary Emma Bassett in DeLeon. A WW II Army veteran, he was a lifetime member of the American Legion, D.A.V. & retired from civil service at Carswell AFB, Ft. Worth. A resident of Fort Worth for 28 yrs, he returned to DeLeon in 1977. Funeral services were held Mon., 26 June, at 2 pm in Nowlin Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in DeLeon Cem. Survivors: is wife, Mary Emma Corbell-DeLeon; stepson: Ronald Stephens & wife, Sandy-Irving; 2step-gch: Shawn Stephens-Houston & Shane Stephens-Irving. He was preceded in death by 2bros: Leon & Louie Corbell & 3sis: Tempa Marie Corbell, Nettie Pittman & Bertha Butler.²
