- Research Note*: From Don Britt:
There were two other Brittmales in MS/AL: Giles or Jiles and Linabord. I suspect these may also be sons of Briant and his first wife but I have not been able to locate any information on them either. Briant's father, Brittain Britt, listed three grandchildren in his will: Joel, Doctor and Adeline. They do not fit in the lineage of any of Brittian's otherknown children and I suspect they belong to Briant. I speculate that he left them behind with his parents when he left for Mississippi, Idont know for sure.1 - Name Variation: Briant Britt1

Brittain Britt named Briant Britt as his son in his will, who would have been about the same age as my Briant. Brittain also named two grandchildren; Doctor and Adeline, without identifying their father. Ihave accounted for allBrittain's other known grandchildren with their respective parents. My Briant Britt moved to Choctaw County, Mississippi around 1840 with lots of people from Robeson County including known Britts. He moved to Alabama, Jefferson County, for a few years, then back to Mississippi, Lowdnes County. I think he died there after 1860.
I think Doctor and Adeline were his children that he left behind to care for his parents. The Britts of Robeson County also lived in Johnson and Bladen County NC.1

In your communications with Danny Barnes, did he say if he was descended from Josiah Barnes? Josiah married Mary Olly Britt in 1813 and they lived in Barnesville, Robeson County. Mary was a daughter of Lemuel Britt, who I believe I am descended from. This could explain my genetic connection to the Barnes Family.

I was interested to hear that you have found some Barnes connected to your line. Were they by any chance in Robeson County? We do have a 37 marker match with a Danny Barnes whose line goes back to Robeson NC and then dead ends.
If our ancestors never lived in the same counties, then it seems unlikely that the connection could have been closer than eight generations, even given the statistical probabilities. My Griffins lived in Chowan, Perquimans, Northampton, and Wayne and Edgecombe Counties in NC. In Alabama they lived in Chambers and Clay.
I don’t suppose you have any leads as to where your Britt line might have been living prior to Robeson NC?
