    From Wally Smith:

The US Census 1830 Campbell County Georgia shows Lovin ? Strickland with one male 0 to 5, and two males 20 to thirty, one female 0 to 5, three females 5 to 10. 1 female 15 to 20 and 1 female 20 to 30. The family above looks like two families in the same house. This could be Lodrick Strickland and his brother Roswell the female's 20 to 30 could be there wives. the children would probably belong to Roswell.

Next door living alone was Nancy Striklin 80 to 90 years old. These children were almost certainly Perry, Nancy, and William. If so there is one female missing in 1850 who was there in 1840.

L Strickland age 34 with wife Lydia 37 is shown on the 1850 US Census for Carroll County Georgia in the eleventh divison. Children were Perry 18, Nancy 14, William 10, Levi 9, Henry 6, and Mary 5. Next door was Rosswell Strickland and family. He was a brother of Lodrick.

From the same source, Sept 2003:

Lodrick Strickland born about 1814. Georgia. Lived in Cobb and then Campbell County.

A letter was found by a cousin and it contains notes from an interview of my great grandmother Lydia Ann Smallwood. It was stated by her to the intervewer who was a niece to her, that her father James Lodrick and three of her uncles named Perry, Gates, and William Randle went to war. and her father came back but Perry and Gates and William Randle stayed out West.

We had assumed Lodric to be a son of Julius. If so, then there are two more names to add to the list, Perry and William Randle. Perry could be a first or middle name of one of the others. But the William Randle is a new find it would seem.

We have Horatio Gates listed as a son of Julius. He lived in randolph county Alabama. I suppose that might be considered out west in Lydia Ann's day.

I am guessing the war she refered to was the Mexican war.

Also amoung the notes of the niece who did the intervew It says that Lodric's wife was a Curbow. We believe the Mahala Curbow who was married to Gates Strickland to be a sister to Lydia Ann (Lodrick's wife). Their father we think was Joseph Curbo. And a brother was Henry Curbo.

The above was taken from a notarized statement signed with an x by Lydia Ann Smallwood in Carroll County Georgia 1938. Lydia Ann Died in 1942. The stated purpose of the sworn statement was to establish the relatives of William Randal Strickland. It was signed as a witness by G. W. Payne and notarized by the J.P. Jno E. Conner Carroll County Georgia the 5th day of April 1938.

June 24 1938 there was a congressional act passed about paying out Money to individuals of Indian decent. This is what the goal of the
    statement was about.
