  • Research Note*: 9 August 2018; Samuel and Cornelius Cohron got headrights in Wilkes Co in 1784/85 and one William Cohron in 1786 in Franklin. I feel this would be a generation later than the folks in Mecklinburg and Orange. And it seems to me it is either dad and sons or brothers. I think brothers?; Witness=Samuel Cochran, Witness=William Cohron4
  • Biography*: 31 August 2018; Cornelius was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, and obtained land in Washington County, GA, as a result of his service. He was too young to have been the Cornelius II who was in St. Phillips Parish in 1770, and would instead have been III around that time.

Cornelius was in Wilkes County, GA, very early, and probably well prior to the first recorded deed, which was a sale of land by Cornelius, and his wife Ann, to Andrew Wilson, part of a grant dated November, 1784 (Wilkes County Deed Bk AA, p.114).

Cornelius died intestate in Monroe County, GA in 1826, and his apparent son, John Cohron, was administrator of his estate. John stated that he had been looking after Cornelius since August 1822, and this might suggest that Cornelius's wife had died in 1822.3
  • (Referenced Name) Biography: 2 September 2018; Cornelius W. Cohron may have been a son of Job Cohron since Job was known to have had children, and Cornelius's lland was adjacent to John Mulkey's.

Or he may have been a son of Cornelius Cohron and wife Ann.; Principal=Cornelius W. Cohron
  • (Referenced Name) Biography: 2 September 2018; Isaac may have been the son of either Job or Cornelius Cohron. Job seems most likely, due to Isaac's association with Felix.; Principal=Isaac Cohron

He owned 32 acres adjacent to Patsy Randle and William Finley. Adjacent to Jonathan was John Duck Sr., who owned 16 acres. The combined 48 acres was apparently from Reuben Jackson:

Reuben Jackson to Jonathan Brannan, both of Morgan County, for $160, on Little River waters, 50 acres, part of Lot 214, 15th District, formerly Baldwin now Morgan County, drawn by Patsey Randal of Burke County, adjacent branch on line of Lot 215, Lot 237, down branch. • (Interred) Burial*: Jefferson Cem
  • Biography*: James Cohron came to Mississippi first, buying 2100 acres in a small white settlement called New Salem near Vaiden, MS. They must have pooled their money because each listed 700 acres. Land was selling at one dollar per acre. James sent back for his mother Sarah, and brothers, giving John Butler authority to settle their affairs in Georgia. John Butler was the uncle of Sarah Cohron. James sold his land at New Salem and bought 2500 acres near Jefferson, Carroll Co, MS, where four generations of the Cohron family are now buried.
