• Obituary*: 1 May 1912; Mrs. Mary L. Dickson, wife of E. Y. Dixon (sic), died at the family residence in Roanoke, Alabama, on April 25th, and was buried at Rock Springs Cemetery on the following day. In the presence of a large assembly of relatives and friend, the funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. C. Bledsoe, who had received her into the Rock Spring Baptist Church in 1885. She leaves her husband and four children, two boys and two girls, and a large number of relatives and friends to mourn her loss. If Mrs. Dickson had lived to June the 1st, 1912, she would have been forty years of age. She was married to Mr. Dickson in 1896 and until the last few years had lived in the neighborhood where she was reared. She was a most devoted wife and mother; her neighbors and friends loved her, appreciating her many excellent qualities of mind and heart. Her consistent Christian life is a rich inheritance she leaves to her children. Her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. John Davis, and brother Mr. J. A. Davis, live in our city. The Sun extends heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved ones.^1,3

• Death*: 14 June 1928; Langdale, Chambers Co., Alabama; Mr. J. A. Davis, a former citizen of LaFayette, died at the hospital at Langdale last Thursday night. Mr. Davis was employed by Batson & Cook at West Point. On May 29th he became entangled in a belt causing him to fall and break a leg and otherwise inflicting serious injuries. Last Thursday it became necessary to amputate the broken limb, and he died from the operation. He is survived by his wife, daughter and mother, of Lanett; two brothers, A. E. Davis, of Chilton County, and W. T. Davis, of Colorado; two sisters, Mrs. J. B. Messer and Mrs. O. G. Moore, both of LaFayette. The funeral was held at Lanett Methodist Church Saturday afternoon and interment was at Sandy Ridge.¹
