(BIRMINGHAM) Services for Elder Charles Vernon Estes, 68, of Birmingham, formerly of LaFayette, were Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Rocky Mount Primitive Baptist Church, with Elders Ben Keeble, Steve Stathelson and Louis Culver officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
Elder Estes died Wednesday, Nov. 20, at Brookwood Hospital in Birmingham.
A Chambers County native, Elder Estes was born Aug. 25, 1934, son of John Thomas and Naomi Carter Estes. He was a member of Rocky Mount Primitive Baptist Church and had worked as a safety engineer with USF & G Company.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie Wayne Avery Estes; two sons, Charles B. Estes of Lafayette, Ga., and Cary Estes of Birmingham; one sister, Mary Frances Estes of Center; three brothers, John Thomas Estes of Tequesta, Fla., Raymond Lee Estes of Ocala, Fla.,
and William Malvin Estes of Birmingham; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Keith Estes, Calvin Bishop, Kenny Whitehead and Carl Jackson.
Arrangements were by Quattlebaum Funeral Home, Roanoke.¹
