• Biography*: This William 'H' Smith was in the 1840 census in Chambers, next door was his father-in-law & a Nancy Smith. Nancy had 2 daughters and 1 son enumerated with her in 1840, all in the 15/20 age group. One of the daughters I believe to have been my Amy Smith. I have since found this Wm H in the 1850 Coffee Co, AL census & the father-in-law was enumerated with him. By 1852 he appears in the newly created Columbia Co, Ark. He died in Lonoke Co, AR before 1875.

Burwell Smith¹

• Biography*: Burrell was on the 1840 census of Troup, born in the 1790's, and he may have been the same Burrell who was in 1830 DeKalb Co. GA, Page 60, based on a comparison of census records for those two years. In 1840 Troup, he was just a page away from Jeremiah Smith, also born in the 1790's. Not to be confused with Jeremiah R. Smith, who was born in the 1810's. I have no record of the marriage of Burrell Smith and Nancy Ayres.
