- Obituary*: 18 May 1944; Beloved Former Resident of Lanett Died Last Sunday, May 14 -- Funeral for Mrs. Lester Knight held here Monday afternoon -- Funeral services for Mrs. Lester Knight, wife of the late Judge W. H. Knight, who died Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the home of her sister, Mrs. O. S. Cook, Roanoke, Ala., following an illness of eighteen months, were held Monday at 4 P.M. from the Lanett Methodist Church with Dr. R. B. Lavendar and the Rev. O. G. Ogburn officiating. Burial was in the Lanett Cemetery with Johson & Blakely in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Knight was well known in this community, having lived in Lanett throughout most of her married life. She was the widow of the late Judge W. H. Knight, who was Mayor of Lanett at the time of his death. She was a member of the Methodist church since childhood and was active in church work until her health failed.

Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Alice Bishop, Roanoke, four sisters, Mrs. O. S. Cook, Roanoke, Mrs. C. B. [sic., Mrs. C. V.] Atkinson, Rock Mills, Mrs. A. T. Smallwood, Hogansville, and Mrs. John Smith, also of Hogansville; two brothers, S. L. Bishop, Roanoke, and E. D. Bishop [Edmond Dearmer Bishop], St. Louis.
