Death of Mr. J. E. Stewart
Mr. J. E. Stewart, a prominent farmer at Center community, died at the Farmer's Union Warehouse, in this city, Tuesday, Dec. 24th, at 12:30 o'clock. Mr. Stewart had brought cotton to town and had stopped at the warehouse to have it weighed, when he was taken sick. He lay down on some cotton in the rear of the warehouse, and after he had been there some time, someone went back to see how he was getting on, and found him seriously ill. A physician was summoned, but Mr. Stewart died a few minutes before medical aid arrived. His death is attributed to heart trouble.
The deceased was 38 years old and was a Deacon in the Center Baptist Church and secretary of the Chambers County division of the Farmer's Union. He is survived by a wife and seven children.
The remains were interred in the cemetery at Center Church Wednesday. Rev. Mr. Silvey conducting the services.

    Resolutions
The resolutions, on the death of Brother J. E. Stewart, were adopted by Center Sunday School:
Whereas, it has pleased Almighty God in his omnipotence to call from our midst to eternity, on Dec. 24th, our beloved brother, J. E. Stewart.
Brother Stewart was superintendent of our Sunday School for the year 1911 – 1912, and in October he resigned that place and was elected teacher of the senior class. Under the leadership of Brother Stewart our Sunday School increased forty percent in numbers. He made a good superintendent and a splendid teacher.
Resolved, that in the death of Brother Stewart our Sunday School at Center Church has lost an earnest and faithful member, the wife a loyal and devoted companion, the children a kind and loving father, the brothers and sisters an affectionate brother, and the community a good citizen.
Resolved, that we bow in humble submission to the will of our Father, hoping to meet Brother Stewart above.
Resolved, that in testimony of our respect to his memory a copy of these resolutions be furnished Mrs. Stewart, a copy to the LaFayette Sun, and that they be placed upon the minutes of our Sunday School.

    A Sad Death.
On December 24th, 1912, Mr. J. E. Stewart quietly passed away into the pearly gates of Heaven to receive his long awaited reward. He was clerk of the church at Center and Superintendent of Sunday School and made a splendid one.
He was a member of Center Church and served so faithfully. He is survived by a wife, seven children, and three brothers, and three sisters. It was so hard to give him up but God knew best.
    God needed one more angel.
    Among his shining band,
    So he called his dear
    Brother to a fairer land.
    A Friend.1
