Rev. Paul Vick will officiate. Burial will follow in the Old Harmony Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 29, 2013 from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm at New Site United Methodist Church.
Mrs. East passed away on Friday, September 27, 2013 at Chapman Healthcare Center. She was born on June 29, 1923 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to Jessie Vernon Foshee and Hattie Mae Lett Foshee. She was an active member of New Site United Methodist Church. Mrs. East enjoyed traveling, gardening, the outdoors, Gospel music, cooking and spending time with her family. She was a loving sister, mother, grandmother,
great- grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
She is survived by her son, Terry Van East (Jenny), of Alexander City; daughters, Charlotte Lashley (James) and Jenny E. Haynie (Joe), both of Alexander City; 7 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mavis Phillips (Al), Corene Wright, Agnes Allen (Lloyd), all of Alexander City and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Van East; her parents; daughter, Linda E. Railey; grandchild, Karen Railey; sister, Hattie Sue Taunton and brothers, Russell Foshee, Homer Lee Foshee and George Frank Foshee.
The family will accept flowers or contributions may be made to the Old Harmony Cemetery Fund, Jack Peters, 15087 Hamlet Mill Rd., New Site, Alabama, 36256.
