Galen Leroy Bailey

  • (Deceased) Death*: 23 August 2006; Prairie Grove, Drew Co., Arkansas; BAILEY, GALEN LEROY, 58, joined his savior on Wednesday, August 23, 2006. He was born July 11, 1948 in Birmingham, Alabama to Frederick and Marjorie Putman Bailey. Galen grew up and lived most of his working life in Birmingham where he and his family ran a large mail advertising business, Mail Enterprises, Inc. For 35 years. He was a graduate of Woodlawn High School and attended two years of college at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. On September 11, 1982, he married the love of his life, Michele and was blessed with seven beautiful children, Jacob Galen age 13, Caden Asher age 13, Marjorie Kathleen "Katy" age 11, Christina Michele age 10, Emily Jane age 9, Benjamin Cole age 7, Joseph Matthew "Joey" age 5. Galen and his family moved to Evansville, Arkansas in November of 1997. Galen was a devoted father and husband who loved his family, friends and his country. Galen was also an avid hunter, fisherman and loved nature and the great outdoors. He had a strong affection for animals. His family operates and supports a nonprofit, no kill animal rescue - Bailey Family Special Needs Canine Rescue from their home since March of 2006 with more than 60 adoptions, and currently cares for 50 homeless animals. Galen had been permanently disabled since August of 2005 due to his declining health. Survivors include his wife Michele and children Jacob, Caden, Katy, Christy, Emily, Ben and Joey. His mother, Marjorie Bailey, and brother, Rondel Bailey, and extended family, Tony & Kathy Lillie, Ken & Beverly Hanson and nephew Dustin and nieces Haley and Gracie Hanson. He also leaves behind many beloved friends and furry K9 companions. Senior fur kids, Grannie & Petie, his devoted chair side companions also miss his presence dearly and will no doubt join him soon.
