Jackson, born Dec. 24, 1928 in Sardis, to the late Glover Jackson and Katherine J. Jackson, was a World War II veteran, a member of the First Baptist Church in Sardis and a retired U.S. Postal Clerk. Services were Friday at Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Sardis. Rev. Jerry Sanford officiated. Moore Funeral Home had charge.2

  • (Deceased) Death*: 25 March 2012; Anniston, Calhoun Co., Alabama; Charles Burrell Jackson, Jr, 73, of Anniston, Alabama, formerly of Memphis, Tennessee, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 25, 2012.Burrell is preceded in death by his parents Charles Burrell Jackson Sr. and Myrtle Everett Jackson Williams, and his beloved sister Helen Strautman. He is survived by his nephews Mark Strautman (Julie), Ashippun, WI; David Strautman (Jennifer), St. Paul, MN; Doug Strautman (Amy), Oxford, AL and his cherished great-nieces and nephews: Jacob, Julia, Drew, Nicole, Anna Brook, Jack, and Evan. Burrell will be greatly missed by his long-time friend and confidant Carole Buzbee, as well as many other dear friends. Burrell was born and raised in Memphis, attending Southside High School and later the University of Tennessee, which held a special place in his heart. He served his country in the U.S. Air National Guard, and then enjoyed a long career with Delta Airlines in Memphis. During his career and into his retirement, Burrell was a world travel!
    er visiting every corner of the globe, many times over. He treasured escorting his mother and step-father on many journeys and made numerous close friends around the world. Those he leaves behind will remember Burrell’s caring generosity, quest for adventure, thoughtful determination, and sincere love of family and friends. Visitation will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Memphis on Friday, March 30th from 5-7 p.m. A remembrance service will be held at the same location on Saturday, March 31st at 11:30 a.m. A private family inurnment will follow.
